A decent rack bag, March 27, 2009 This review is from: Avenir Excursion Rack-Top Bag (830 Cubic Inches) (Sports) I used this to carry my stuff on my bike during a 500 mile bike trip last summer. You can fit a lot of stuff in here if you pack smartly, and the multiple pockets can hold lots of smaller stuff of various sizes.
My complaint would be the Velcro straps don't secure it to the bike rack very well and cause it to sit a bit lopsided. If you have lots of stuff you'll probably have to secure it with a bungie cord or two, because the extra weight will make it want to slide off to one side.

I needed a replacement.
For 4 times 10 bones (Dick's Sporting Goods or Amazon) this rack-top bike bag can't be beat. I've since bought another from amazon for a little over $26!!!
It has a fairly large expandable main compartment. It won't hold large binders or a laptop, but that is O.K. I needed to downsize. I don't think I would carry a laptop in a bike bag anyway unless it had a solid state drive, because of the bumps and shock it would endure. However, It works great for lunch size items and clothing, and actually smaller books could fit as well. The expandable main compartment is wonderful on camping trips for carrying bulkier towels and things to the swimming hole.

I use mine mostly to commute to work on my casual days, I can fit my pants, shirt and shoes (rolled up) my Kindle, my lunch, keys, wallet, cell, wet wipes and deoderant. Like I said, it's great value. You have to get creative with packing it, but it all fits!
One other thing, my wife and I have used it for short rides to our local park for picnics, because the main compartment is insulated it keeps our food cool! If you are looking for a rack top bag look no further!!
